Nepal sets 225-run target for Canada in ODI Series

Nepal has set a 225-run target for Canada in a cricket match of the One Day International (ODI) Series on Thursday.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss at the TU Cricket Ground, Nepal notched up 224 runs losing nine wickets in the allotted 50 overs.

Kushal Bhurtel topped the score with 62 balls including nine fours and one six off 58 deliveries, followed by Aarif Sheikh with 38 runs including four fours off 50 balls. Similarly, Sompal Kami contributed 27 balls including one four and two sixes off 23 deliveries.

Kushal Malla, Bhim Sharki, Pawan Sarraf, and Surya Tamang hit, 20, 17, 15 and 10 runs respectively. The other batsmen could score double-digit runs.

In reply, Uday Bhagwan took the highest three wickets including one maiden giving away 40 runs in 8 overs, Saad Bin Zafar and Ishwarjot Sohi grabbed two wickets each for Canada. Likewise, Shahid Ahmadzai and Harsh Thaker claimed one wicket each. 

Nepal's head coach Monty Desai has given opportunities to some young and new players in the series against Canada. Canada is coached by Pubudu Dassanayake. Pubudu is also a former coach of Nepali cricket team.

As part of the series, Nepal is competing against Canada today, on February 10, and 12 at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
