Ncell has announced to honor para taekwondo players including Palesha Goverdhan who won a historic medal for Nepal in the Paralympics underway in Paris.
Ncell, a private telecommunications company, has decided to honor para taekwondo players and their coach with cash prizes for their historic achievement in Paris Paralympics 2024.
The company has announced a total of Rs 2 million in prize money, with Palesha receiving Rs 1 million and the remaining Rs 1 million to be distributed among the other players and coach.
Ncell has been providing assistance for an over-all training and development of para athletes as per the agreement reached with National Paralympic Committee (NPC) last year.
Ncell Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Jabbor Kayumov, expressed his delight over Palesha's victory and the positive impact it has had on the nation.
“The historic medal won by Palesha is the national pride. Hard work, dedication and excellent performance of the para athletes resulted in this win,” CEO Kayamov said, “We express our commitment to encourage para athletes like Palesha Goverdhan with such cash prizes in coordination with the NPC.”
Ncell had announced a partnership with the NPC as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives on the occasion of its 18th anniversary last year.
The para taekwondo team including Palesh Goverdhan who won a bronze medal for Nepal in the Paris Paralympics has arrived in Nepal this morning.
The team was received with a grand welcome and rallied from the airport to the premises of the National Sports Council in Kathmandu.
Similarly, Palesha will receive Rs 6.5 million from the government for winning a historic medal for Nepal.
In the National Sports Development Regulations 2022, there is a provision to award 13 million rupees to gold medal winners in Summer Olympics, Winter Olympics, Paralympics, Special Olympics, and World Cup football, 9.7 million rupees to silver medal winners, and 6.5 million rupees to bronze medal winners under individual category.
