Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya has expressed willingness of the Election Commission to ensure franchise rights of Non-Resident Nepalis as per the Supreme Court's directive order.

It may be noted that the apex court had issued the order on March 21, 2018.

In a consultative meeting with the political parties representing the parliament on Friday, Chief Commissioner Thapaliya said a draft bill related to electoral management addressing the concern was submitted to the Home Ministry on July 1 last year but it has yet to be tabled in the parliament.

He stressed the need to ensure registration in voters' rollout in view of the by-election to the member of the parliament.
