ICC WC League 2: Namibia beats Netherlands by 24 runs

Namibia defeated the Netherlands by 24 runs in a cricket match held under the ICC World Cup Cricket League-2 on Friday.

Invited to bat first after losing the toss at the TU Cricket Ground, Namibia gathered 203 runs in 41.3 overs at the loss of all wickets.

Chasing a 204-run target for the win, Netherlands was limited to 179 runs in 43.5 overs at the loss of all wickets. Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton had secured the highest 49 runs for Namibia. He made six fours and two sixes facing 43 throws.

Likewise, Malan Krugar scored 39 runs, Jan Frylinck 34, Ruben Trumpelmann 23 and Zane Green 22 for Namibia. Captain Gerhard Erasmus contributed 12 runs while Michael Van Linken made 10 runs.

Towards bowling, Netherlands' cricketer Vivian Kingma took three wickets, Aryan Dutt and Roelof van der Merwe took two each and Shariz Ahmad and Bas de Leede one each wicket.

Likewise, Noah Croes made the highest contribution of 46 runs for the Netherlands. Max O' Dowd stroke 41 runs, Bas de Leede 24 runs and Shariz Ahmad 19 runs.

Namibian bowler Jan Frylinck and Gerhard Erasmus took three wickets each, Bernard Scoltz two ad Ruben Trumpelmann and Nicol Loftie-Eaton took one each.

With the win, Namibia has reached atop the score board by securing six points from four matches. Nepal and the Netherlands have equal two points from three matches. Nepal will take on the Netherlands on February 25 in the final match of the ongoing series.
