Executive Chairman of Platinum College Jiwan Kumar Gurung has been arrested in connection with the 14 kg gold smuggling case at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).
The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police arrested Gurung from Samakhusi last night, informed Police Spokesperson Hobindra Bogati.
Preparations are being made to hand over Gurung to the TIA Customs Office for necessary actions, said Bogati.
The other people arrested in the 14 kg gold smuggled to Nepal from Dubai are doing time in custody. Gurung, who originally hails from Parbat, had been on the run after the court issued an arrest warrant to him.
A case had been filed against defendants including Chandra Ghale and Meen Bahadur Ghale at the Kathmandu District Court seeking a fine of 1 billion 405 million 500 thousand rupees.
