Nepal faced a humiliating defeat at the hands of Bahrain in the first leg of the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
Bahrain defeated Nepal with a wide margin of 5-0 goals in the match held at the Bahrain National Stadium on Thursday night.
In the first half, Nepal lost to Bahrain 3-0 and in the second half the opponent added two more goals.
Nepal's World Cup Qualifier match against Bahrain, originally scheduled for Dasharath Stadium, was relocated to the Bahrain National Stadium after Dasharath Stadium, Nepal's only international stadium, lacked the necessary infrastructure to meet hosting standards.
Capitalizing on the home ground, Bahrain took the lead after Mahdi Al Humaidan scored a first goal in the second minute of the first half.
Sayed Baqer doubled the score for Bahrain after he made another goal in the ninth minute. Ali Madan scored another goal in the last minute of the first half, leaving Nepal behind with 3-0 goals.
Similarly, in the 87th minute, Ibrahim Al-Khatal added another goal through a header. Similarly, Ismail Hasan scored one more goal capitalizing on the penalty awarded to Bahrain after Nepal Laken Limbu committed a foul against Al Khatal.
Unbeaten in three matches, UAE is atop the points tally with 9 points followed by Bahrain with 6 points from two wins out of two matches while Nepal is trailing without points losing all three matches played so far.
Neal and Bahrain will play the second match in the second leg of the World Cup Qualifier on March 27.
