Nepal beats Ireland A by six wickets in T20I cricket match

Nepal defeated Ireland A by six wickets in the first T20I practice cricket match held at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur on Monday.

Chasing the 122-run target set by visiting team Ireland A, Nepal reached it in 16.1 overs losing four wickets. Kushal Bhurtel topped the score with 37 not out runs including four fours off 32 balls followed by Sundeep Jora with 36 runs including three fours and two sixes off 35 deliveries.

Similarly, Dipendra Singh Airee hit 20 runs, Aasif Sheikh contributed 16 runs while the other batsmen could not achieve significant runs.

In reply, Gareth Delany took two wickets while Ben White and Thomas Mayes grabbed one wicket each for Ireland.

Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss, Ireland A notched up 121 runs losing all wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Stephen Doheny made the highest 46 runs including four fours and two sixes off 39 deliveries followed by Thomas Mayes and Liam McCarthy with equal 16 runs. Similarly, Fionn Hand contributed 11 runs while the other batsmen could not reach double digit runs.

On the bowling side, Lalit Rajbanshi, Gulsan Jha and Kushal Bhurtel grabbed two wickets each giving away 26, 13 and 17 runs, respectively. Similarly, Karan KC and Kushal Malla took one wicket each for Nepal.

Nepal’s Kushal Bhurtel is declared as the Player of the Match.
