Birat Gold Cup: NRT defeats Tribhuvan Army Club to reach quarterfinal

The New Road Team (NRT) entered the quarterfinal of the Birat Gold Cup being held in Morang.

The NRT defeated the Tribhuvan Army Club by 2-0 in the game played at the Shahid Stadium in Biratnagar last night. For NRT, its players Richard and Afiz Olabal scored one goal each. With the win, the NRT will play against Sikkim Degan of India in the second quarterfinal match on Sunday.

NRT's Afiz was declared the 'Player of the Match', to win Rs 11,000 in cash. The first quarterfinal match of the tournament is being held between Shangri-La Morang Football Club and Bhutan's RTC FC Club this evening.

Nepal's A Division clubs and the teams from India and Bhutan are participating in the Birat Gold Cup. The winner of the tournament will get Rs 1.1 million while the runner-up will receive Rs 550,000. (RSS)
