Govt to showcase 21 projects worth Rs 891 bln for PDA in investment summit

With only 19 days to go before the Nepal Investment Summit 2024, the preparations have reached the final stage.

The committee formed to select and showcase projects led by chief secretary Baikuntha Aryal has said the work has reached the final stage.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Investment Board Nepal (IBN), Sushil Bhatta, who is the member secretary of the committee, has chalked out the draft of the projects incorporating those from the federal, provincial and local levels to be showcased in the Summit.

According to an officer of the IBN, two different kinds of projects will be showcased in the upcoming investment summit.

"This year's summit will showcase two different kinds of projects," the official explained, "One set of projects will be presented for project development agreements (PDA), while the other will be showcased for potential investors seeking funding."

21 projects worth around Rs 891 billion
The government is showcasing 21 projects seeking development agreements. It will require almost 9 billion rupees. 

According to the committee, these projects include Pokhara International Convention Center. Its construction cost is estimated at around 3 billion 716 million rupees.

The other project is Daiji Industrial Area whose cost is estimated at around 8 billion 628 million rupees. It is proposed to be built in Kanchanpur.

Besides, Babarmahal Administrative Plaza is set to be included in the list of DPAs to be showcased in the summit. Its estimated investment cost it Rs 10.2 billion.

The other projects are Chandragiri-Chitlang-Chitwan Express Way (Rs 221 billion), Janaki Heritage and Cultural Village (Rs 2.35 billion), Dhulikhel Mediciti Project (Rs 11 billion), Cabal car under the Khaptad National Park Integrated Development Project (Rs 5.4 billion), Resort (Rs 519 million), trail improvement (Rs 840 million), integrated center ( Rs 150 million).

Similarly, the Far West Public Transport Project costing 31.13 billion rupees, the Naumure Multi-purpose Project costing 92 billion rupees, the Khimti Those Reservoir Hydropower project costing  231 billion rupees, the Kaligandaki 2 Reservoir Project costing 133 billion rupees, the Bharbung Reservoir Hydropower project costing 80.12 billion rupees The project will be presented in the summit.

Similarly, high-end resort (Rs 980 million), Mahadev Khola Reservoir Project (Rs 2.45 billion), Karnali Chisapani Wind Power Project (Rs 14.73 billion), Humla Karnali Hydropower Project (Rs 14.70 billion), Upper Chamelia Hydropower (Rs 1.90 billion), Panchkhaal SEZ construction (Rs 1.57 billion), Kawadi Khola Hydropower Project (Rs 6.41 million) will also be presented.

Similarly, the Tom Dogar Budhigandaki Hydroelectric Project with an estimated cost of 9 billion 804 million rupees and the Super Budhigandaki Hydroelectric Project worth 7.34 billion rupees have been kept as projects for which development agreements can be concluded.

In the aggregate, projects worth 891 billion 150 million rupees will be showcased for the development agreements in the summit.  

The Third International Investment Summit is set to be held on April 28-29. The Steering Committee led by Finance Minister Barshaman Pun is doing the necessary preparations.
