Finance Minister Barshaman Pun has left for America to participate in the joint meeting of World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Minister Pun, leading a four-member delegation, flew to Washington DC by a flight of Qatar Airways at 2 am today.
Secretary Krishnahari Puskar among other high-ranking officials at the Finance Ministry reached the Tribhuvan International Airport to bid adieu to Minister Pun.
Shreekrishna Nepal, joint secretary and the chief of the International Economic Cooperation Coordination Division at the Finance Ministry, Undersecretary Kanchan Basnet, another Undersecretary Bhupal Raj Shakya, and the personal secretary of Minister Pun are in the delegation.
On a three-day visit to America, Minister Pun, as a keynote speaker, will address a ministerial-level dialogue of Vulnerable Twenty (V20) countries threatened by climate change crises.
The V20 is a forum to raise voices in the global community for mitigating the risks of climate change and increasing financial support in the transitional situation in the global economy.
Minister Pun will also hold high-level sideline meetings on climate nexus and clean energy in South Asia during the three-day US visit.
During the meeting, Pun will hold discussions on the preparations of the International Development Association (IDA-21) of the World Bank to be held in Kathmandu in coming June, priorities of a five-year investment partnership with the World Bank in Nepal, and the financial management of 1063-megawatt semi-reservoir hydroelectricity projects to be built in Sankhuwasabha among other hydropower projects.
Similarly, he will apprise the development partners including World Bank and private sectors of the reforms made by the Nepal government towards creating environment conducive for investment for the Third International Investment Summit to be held in Kathmandu on April 28-29.
