LSP decides to pull out of Madhesh govt, deals a blow to CM Yadav

Loktantrik Samajbadi Party (LSP) has decided to pull out of the Madhesh Province government.

A meeting of the parliamentary party (PP) of the LSP held on Tuesday decided to pull out of the Mahesh Province government and not to give the vote of confidence to Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav.

Minister for Forest and Environment Ramesh Prasad Kurmi, who represented LSP, has resigned from his post. LSP who has nine lawmakers in the Province Assembly had been demanding one more ministry.

Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) leader Saroj Kumar Yadav is the Chief Minister of Madhesh Province government.

A meeting of the Province Assembly called for the vote of confidence for Chief Minister Yadav was put off for 10 minutes after Janamat Party disrupted it. It has not resumed yet.

Mahesh Province Assembly Speaker Ram Chandra Mandal is rendering efforts to forge an all-party consensus to resume the meeting of the Province Assembly.

In the 107-member Province Assembly, CPN (UML) has 24 lawmakers including the speaker, Nepali Congress (22), JSP (19), Janamat Party (13), Maoist Center and LSP 9 each, while Unified Socialist has 7 lawmakers.

Similarly, Nagarik Unmukti Party, Rastriya Prajatantra Party and Federal Socialist Party have one lawmaker each and one independent lawmaker.  The support of 54 lawmakers is required to secure the vote of confidence in the Madhesh government.
