Three people died and 52 others sustained injuries after a bus carrying wedding attendants met with an accident at Dharawati in Sindhupalchowk on Friday morning.
According to DSP Niranjan Bhattarai of the District Police Office, Sindhupalchowk, the bus, "Ba 4 Kha 5616, coming to Tripurasundari Rural Municipality-5, Piskar, of Sindhupalchowk, carrying wedding attendants from Bhimeshwar Municipality-1, Suspa, in Dolakha crashed at Dharawati at 7 am this morning.
"Three people died on the spot and 52 others sustained injuries. The condition of seven among those injured is said to be critical," DSP Bhattarai told Nepalkhabar.
Bhattaria said that the identities of the dead and injured have not yet been disclosed.
The bus fell some 100 meters down the road.
"Rescue operation is going on at the accident site now," said DSP Bhattarai, "Seven seriously injured people are being brought to Bahrabise for further treatment." The remaining 45 passengers have been taken to a local health center for treatment.
It is yet to be disclosed whether the bride and bridegroom were on the same bus. Around 55 people were traveling on the bus, according to police.
