Ilam 2: UML’s Nembang widens lead of 5,662 votes

CPN (UML) candidate Suhang Nembang has widened the lead as the counting of votes is underway for by elections in Ilam constituency 2.

According to the latest vote count updates, Nembang received 16,219 votes while his closest rival of Nepali Congress, Dambar Khadka, obtained 10,557 votes.

Similarly, independent candidate Dakendra Singh Thegim is trailing with 8,825 votes.

There are 115,889 voters in the Ilam-2. The voting was held in 149 polling centers, and 79 polling stations.

The turnout in by-poll held in Ilam constituency-2 for House of Representative (HoR) remained at 59.79 percent, according to the Office of the Chief Election Officer.  

The Office said that a total of 69,287 voters including 35,135 men, 34,150 women and two others cast their votes in the HoR by-election.

In the HoR elections held in November 2022, the voters' turnout was 57.44 percent in Ilam constituency 2.
