Main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has reiterated its stance that a parliamentary committee be formed to investigate Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister for Home Affairs Rabi Lamichhane for his alleged involvement in the embezzlement of cooperative funds.
Digging in its heels in the meeting with the top leaders of major political parties called by Speaker Devraj Ghimire, the NC called for the formation of a parliamentary committee to investigate DPM and Home Minister Lami Lamichhane, Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak said following the meeting.
“We have demanded a parliamentary committee. Home Minister Lamichhane appears to have been involved in the cooperative fund embezzlement case,” Lekhak said, “We have not demanded his resignation but an impartial investigation into the case. We are optimistic that the government will form the committee and deal with the case accordingly.”
Expressing his views in the meeting, CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli said Home Minister Lamichhane should be allowed to speak up on the cooperative fund embezzlement case in the parliament.
