Chief Minister of Sudurpashchim Province, Dirgha Bahadur Sodari, has taken the vote of confidence.
Chief Minister Sodari managed to secure the vote of confidence amidst protests of lawmakers of Nepali Congress and the Resham Chaudhary faction of Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP) in the Provincial Assembly meeting on Thursday.
A total of 28 lawmakers including 11 from CPN (UML), 10 from CPN (Maoist Center), four from CPN (Unified Socialist), two from Ranjita faction of NUP and one independent lawmaker Dr Tara Prasad Joshi voted for Sodari.
The lawmakers from Nepali Congress, those from Resham faction of NUP and RPP abstained from voting.
Sodari had floated his motion in the assembly meeting amidst protests by lawmakers of Nepali Congress and the Resham faction of NUP.
The provincial meeting called for 10:15 am had been postponed for 30 minutes following the lawmakers’ protest.
Sodari had been appointed as the Chief Minister of Sudurpashchim on April 18 following the formation of a new ruling coalition including UML in the center.
