Photojournalist Ms. Purnima Shrestha has made history by becoming the first woman to summit Mt Everest three times in a single season this year.
Mountaineer Shrestha reached atop the world's highest peak at 5:50 am today, Lakpa Sherpa mentioned on X, formerly Twitter. She was accompanied by Mr. Karma Gyaljen Sherpa.
This is the third time Purnima conquered Mt Everest this spring, according to the 8K Expeditions.
Earlier, she had climbed Mt Everest on May 12 for the first time and on May 19 for the second time this spring season. With this, she climbed Mt Everest four times. Before this, Shrestha successfully scaled Mt Everest in 2018.
Purnima is a passionate climber who has successfully scaled all the eight-thousanders over the years. She summited:
1. Manaslu (2 times)
2. Mount Everest (8848.86m) (4 times)
3. Annapurna I (8091m)
4. Dhaulagiri (8167m)
5. Kanchenjunga (8586m)
6. Lhotse (8516m)
7. Makalu (8481m)
8. K2 (8611m)
Meanwhile, Lakpa Sherpa has thanked and extended congratulations to the entire 8K team for supporting her throughout the expedition, leading to her successful summit.
