Four killed in Surkhet Jeep Mishap identified

They were returning home after working in India

Four people who died in a jeep accident in Surkhet on Thursday morning have been identified.

The deceased are 40-year-old Tanta BK of Shubha Kalika Rural Municipality-3, Kalikot, his son 17-year-old Birendra BK, 38-year-old Mahendra Shahi and 27-year-old Nawaraj BK of the same place.

All the victims were on their way back home after doing labor jobs in India, said District Police Office, Surkhet.

Two of the four deceased are father and son.

Those who lost their lives in the accident are locals. Tilak Bahadur Shahi, who is also an employee of Shubha Kalika Rural Municipality, said that the village is in a state of mourning after four people from the same village lost their lives.

“All the deceased are laborers. All of them met with an accident while returning home after working in India," Shahi told Nepalkhabar, “Nari BK, 28, of Shubha Kalika-3 sustained critical injuries in the accident."

Police said that the jeep driver, 25-year-old Narendra Bista of Khandachakra Municipality in Kalikot, was also seriously injured in the accident.

Both the injured are being treated at Karnali Regional Hospital, Surkhet.

The jeep veered and fell some 300 meters off the road, the police said.
