The monsoon is entering Nepal via Koshi Province after 10 days.

Climate expert Dr. Dharma Raj Uprety said the monsoon will enter Nepal via Koshi Province after 10 days and gradually spread towards west. It will take around 15 to 20 days to reach Sudurpashchim Province, he said.

“The monsoon will enter Nepal after 10 days. It will gradually spread towards west and reach Sudurpaschim Province after around two weeks," said Dr. Uprety, "We have hardly only one week left for preparations to defend ourselves from the possible monsoon-induced disasters.”

Predicting excessive rains this year, Dr. Uprety urged the government for necessary preparations including keeping rescue team standby, logistics, and foodstuffs, accordingly.

He suggested that the Ministry of Home Affairs, contingency rescue team, volunteers, Red Cross, Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, provinces and local government should roll up their sleeves for the necessary preparations to protect people from the possible monsoon-induced disasters.

Meanwhile, the Red Cross Society has directed its district-level bodies in all the 77 districts to get prepared in view of the upcoming monsoon.
