Two people died and 22 others sustained injuries when a tractor loaded with mangoes met with an accident in Saptari district.
The accident occurred when the ill-fated tractor, Sa 1 Ta 6295, turned turtle at Subba Tole along the Kanchanpur-Rajbiraj Postal Highway on Saturday, said District Police Office, Saptari, DSP Dhundiraj Neupane.
“The deceased are Mohammad Isad, 32, of Lahan Municipality-19, Siraha, and Sushil Ram, 21, of Kanchanpur Municipality-7,” DSP Neupane said, “The condition of 22 injured is normal.”
The tractor, which was coming to Kanchanpur from Rajbiraj through the postal highway, skidded and fell some 10 meters off the road after it went out of control.
Of the injured, 14 are receiving treatment at Golden City Hospital, Biratnagar. The condition of two among those injured is said to be critical.
Among those injured, eight have been discharged after receiving treatment at a local hospital. Similarly, two injured are receiving treatment at Chhinnamasta Hospital in Rajbiraj.
Tractor driver Akbar Miya of Kanchanpur-12 sustained injuries in the accident.
