Bangladesh has set a 107-run target for Nepal in the final Group D stage match of the ICC Men's World Cup in West Indies.
Invited to bat first after losing the toss at the Ornos Vale stadium of St Vincent on Monday, Bangladesh notched up 106 runs losing all wickets in 19.3 overs.
Shakib AI Hasan's 17-run score became the highest followed by Mahmudullah and Rishad Hossain with 13 runs each while Jake Ali and Taskin Ahmed scored 12 runs each. Similarly, Litton Das scored 10 runs. The other batsmen could not score double-digit runs.
On the bowling side, Sampal Kami, Dipendra Singh Airee, Rohit Paudel and Sandeep Lamichhane grabbed two wickets each for Nepal. There may be an opportunity for the national team to create a new history as Nepal has not been so far able to beat the test-playing team.
As Nepal failed to advance to the quarter-finals, the match does not count for the score. It is, however, considered significant for Bangladesh.
South Africa is atop the points table with eight points from Group D, thereby entering the second round of the World Cup. The second group to reach Super Eight from Group D is yet to be finalized.
If Bangladesh defeats Nepal in today's, it will secure the second position and enter the final eight of the group. In the score, Bangladesh has four points.
