A meeting of the Council of Ministers held in Singha Durbar has recommended ambassadors for eight countries.

The meeting held on Friday evening recommended former secretary Chandra Ghimire as the Nepali ambassador to America, former Chief Secretary Lokdarshan Regmi to India, and Sushil Pyakurel to South Korea.

While Ghimire is the former secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Regmi is a former British ambassador. Similarly, Pakurel is a former member of the National Human Rights Commission. He was also an adviser to Bidya Bhandari when she was president.

Similarly, Sumnima Tuladhar has been recommended as the Nepali Ambassador to Denmark, Bijan Pant to UK, Pushpa Raj Ranjitkar (Spain), Dr. Netra Prasad Timsina (Malaysia) while Abu Sufyan Khan Musalman has been recommended as ambassador to Saudi Arabia.

Tuladhar and Dr Timsina are active in social movements. Tuladhar was recommended as the ambassador to Australia in May 2021. She is the daughter of human rights defender late Padma Ratna Tuladhar. She was also affiliated with the NGO CWIN.

Dr. Timsina is the former president of Federation of Non-Governmental Organizations Nepal. He is an active participant in the International Movement of Civil Organizations of Least Developed Countries (LDCs). He has also led the Nepal Red Cross Society.

Pant was earlier an adviser to Sushil Koirala when he was the prime minister of Nepal. This time, he was recommended as the ambassador on the Maoist quota.

He also served as a consultant to a committee on poverty and human development at the prestigious Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative at the University of Oxford, UK.
