A driver has died after the car he was riding was washed away by the Swollen Chamchame rivulet at Nagarjun Municipality-6 in Kathmandu on Friday morning.
Nishan car with the registration number, Ba. Pra. 027 Cha 0491, was swept away by the rivulet, leaving the driver dead at 2:30 am, the police said.
The deceased has been identified as Purna Darnal of Nagarjun Municipality-6, informed SP Nawaraj Adhikari, the spokesperson at the District Police Range, Kathmandu.
“Purna Darnal, 40, a local, has died after the car he was driving was washed away by the swollen Chhamchhame rivulet at Nagarjun-6, Sitapaila,” SP Adhikari told Nepalkhabar.
Critically injured Darnal, who was rushed to Manmohan Memorial Hospital, passed away in the course of treatment at 6 am, said SP Adhikari.
The car that fell into the culvert was taken out by the police and locals with the help of a crane.
