Three family members killed, two missing as landslide buries house in Gulmi

Three members of the same family were killed when their house was buried in a landslide triggered by last night's rainfall in Malika Rural Municipality of Gulmi. Two others of the same family are reported missing.

Bhesh Bahadur BK,56, his wife 47-year-old Suntali and daughter-in-law Sita BK,30, of Kandelpata in Malika Rural Municipality-6 died in the fatal incident, said Superintendent of Police Rajan Bhujel of District Police Office, Gulmi. Bhesh's two granddaughters -- seven-year-old Sapana and two-year-old Bipana are also feared buried.

The bodies of Bhesh Bahadur, Sita, and Sapna have been retrieved while a search is underway to find Sapana and Bipana.

A police team from Isma police station is working at the incident site with the help of locals, according to Deepak Bhandari, Ward President of Malika-6.
