NC CWEC meeting endorses power-sharing deal sealed between Deuba and Oli

The Central Work Execution Committee (CWEC) of Nepali Congress has endorsed the agreement reached between NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli.

Deuba and Oli on Monday midnight formed a new power coalition with the aim of forming a new government and amending the Constitution.

The agreement has been endorsed by the CWEC committee held at Budhanilkantha-based residence of party president Sher Bahadur Deuba, said Dr. Prakashsharan Mahat, spokesperson of the party.

“The NC’s CWEC committee held at Budhanilkantha on Wednesday morning has endorsed the agreement reached between our party president Deuba and UML Chairman Oli,” said Mahat.

He further said that the meeting has also decided to request Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to resign from his post paving the way for the formation of a new government. “The meeting has also urged Prime Minister Prachanda to resign from his post as early as possible,” he added.

With the aim of forming a new government and amending the Constitution, Oli and Deuba struck an agreement on Monday midnight, the leaders have said.

According to the agreement, Oli will lead the government for one and a half years while Deuba will lead the government until the next general election is held.
