The bodies of two workers who went missing after being buried in the tunnel of the under-construction Bhotekosi Hydropower Project in Sindhupalchowk have been retrieved.
As many as 12 workers were buried when the dam side tunnel of Jhirpu Electro Power Company Limited, which is under construction in Bhotekosi Rural Municipality - 4, collapsed on Friday evening.
DSP Niranjan Bhattarai of District Police Office Sindhupalchowk informed that 10 of the injured workers were rescued alive at night but the two workers who went missing workers have been found dead.
"The bodies of the two workers who were buried inside the tunnel on Friday evening have been recovered at 4 am on Saturday", DSP Bhattarai told Nepalkhabar.
The incident occurred when the slab in the dam-side tunnel collapsed during the construction of the 40 MW Bhotekoshi Hydropower Project-1, he said.
The deceased are 30-year-old Ramdin Tharu of Thakurbaba Municipality-3 and 30-year-old Suman Tharu of Thakurbaba-5 in Bardia.
He said that 10 workers were injured in the incident. The injured were rescued and admitted to Bahrabise Keystone Hospital and Bahrabise Municipal Hospital for treatment.
Four workers who sustained critical injuries have been brought to Dhulikhel Hospital for further treatment. The incident site is 70 km north-east of Chautara, the headquarters of Sindhupalchowk district.

Lahanu Tharu, 40, Durga Chaudhary, 45 and Itaman Tharu of Barbardia Municipality, Bardiya, Aita Bahadur Thami, 41, Bijaya Thami, 31, Deepak Thami, 30, and Padam Bahadur Thami of Kalinchowk Rural Municipality-9, Dolakha, Shasan Roka, 23, and Gopal, 56 of Libang Municipality-2, Rolpa and Ramchandra Rimal, 58, of Baiteshwar Rural Municipality-8, Dolakha.
