Green Run is commitment to raise awareness on climate change: Gagan Thapa

Nepali Congress (NC) President Gagan Kumar Thapa has said that Green Run Competition was organized to make commitment on climate change awareness.

Thapa said so after the Green Run contest organized by the NC today on BP Koirala Memorial Day.

On the occasion, Thapa said the first people-elected Prime Minister Koirala introduced the idea of ​​protecting and nationalizing the national resources like forest and land.

President Thapa said the NC has renewed its commitment to do justice to the concept of sustainable development and natural resources.

NC is fully committed to the concept of inclusiveness that NC founding leader BP Koirala translated seven decades ago, according to Thapa.

On the occasion, President Thapa awarded the winner of the Green Run competition. In the competition, Mukesh Bahadur Pal emerged first and won Rs 50,000 in cash while Narendra Singh Rawal and Sanjaya Shrestha stood second and the third, winning Rs 25,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively.

The 5-km race was started from UN Park in Lalitpur.

Meanwhile, NC today announced the establishment of Humanitarian Welfare Fund.

President Thapa said the party would support the homeless people, single women and their children would be supported from the Fund.
