The report prepared by Dr. Mukul Dhakal after conducting a one-month-long field visit has been presented in the central committee meeting of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) today.
After Dhakal was denied the chance to present his report, Deputy General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti read out the report.
According to party Deputy Spokesperson Manish Jha, General Secretary Dhakal had floated a proposal that his report should go live.
However, 20 central members including Party President Rabi Lamichhane, Vice President duo Dol Prasad Aryal and Dr. Swarnim Wagle, Deputy Spokesperson Manish Jha who were present in the meeting expressed their views that it would not be wise to make it live.
“The majority of the central members present in the meeting suggested not to make it live. Twenty lawmakers said it would be immature decision to live-stream as it might contain some sensitive issues about an individual, too,” he said.
President Lamichhane had divided votes on whether to live-stream the report or not. Twenty central members raised their hands against the motion while only Dhakal raised his hand for the motion that it should go live.
“No one raised hands except Dhakal himself. Then, we did not live-stream it based on the majority of votes presented by the central members,” Jha told Nepalkhabar.
In the 32-page report, General Secretary Dhakal has concluded that RSP is gradually losing its popularity and claimed that it won’t even become a national party in the coming elections unless we make a major overhaul in the party.
Stating that he was deprived of his right to expression, he put on a mask with a black tape during the meeting.
Beside the review report, Dhakal said, he was not allowed to present a six-page report in the meeting. After being denied the chance to present his proposal, he sought media attention.
