Home team Nepal is facing Bhutan in the semi-final match of the SAFF U-20 Championship, today (Sunday).
The first semi-final match will start at the ANFA Complex in Satdobato, Lalitpur at 3 pm.
Group A winner Nepal, seeks to continue its winning streak and advance to the final with a victory over Bhutan.
However, Bhutan is not an easy opponent for Nepal. Nepal lost to Bhutan with a 3-0 goal difference in 2019. Similarly, the Nepali team lost to Bhutan in 2017, too.
The performance of the Bhutanese youth team in the ongoing Championship is commendable.
Bhutan has been increasing its investment in football, of late and receiving good results, accordingly.
Nepal defeated Sri Lanka 1-0 in the group stage and reached the semi-finals by defeating Bangladesh 2-1 in the second match.
Similarly, Bhutan lost to India 2-1 in the first match and entered the semi-final after clinching a 2-1 win over Maldives in the second match of the group stage.
Bhutan was limited to 10 players for both the matches against India and Maldives.
