The hearing for the ambassadors recommended for various countries is set to start from tomorrow (Tuesday). A meeting of the parliamentary hearing committee (PHC) has been called for 11 am.

The committee meeting will assign PHC members to review and study complaints received against the recommended ambassadors and their action plans submitted, according to the agenda items set for tomorrow.

A PHC meeting held on August 13 issued a 10-day deadline and called for public complaints against the recommended ambassadors.

The committee has received nine complaints within the given deadline.

Out of nine complaints received, three complaints criticized the ambassadorial recommendation as not being inclusive.

Out of the remaining six complaints, three complaints have been filed against Dr. Netra Prasad Timsina, recommended ambassador to Malaysia, Dr. Shankar Sharma, recommended ambassador for India, Professor Kapil Man Shrestha, recommended for South Africa, and Dhan Prasad Pandit, recommended ambassador for Israel, committee sources have said.

Dr. Sharma's continued appointment as ambassador to India has faced criticism for allegedly violating ambassadorial appointment guidelines. Additionally, Shrestha's recommendation has been challenged as unconstitutional.

Complaints have been filed in the committee against Dr. Sharma and Shrestha, according to the sources. However, the subject of the complaint filed against Dr. Timsina and Pandit has not been disclosed.

In the PHC meeting to be held in the hall of the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee, the action plans submitted by the ambassadors will be distributed to the committee members.

A cabinet meeting on July 29 recommended ambassadors for 18 countries.

Of the 18 ambassadors recommended by the government, only 17 names have been submitted to the Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC), following the removal of Kanta Rijal's name as the proposed ambassador to Australia.

The government has decided to reappoint Dr. Sharma as the ambassador to India. Additionally, they have recommended Krishna Prasad Oli for China, former Chief Secretary Lokdarshan Regmi for the United States, former Secretary Chandra Ghimire for the United Kingdom, and former Deputy Speaker Shiva Maya Tumbahangphe for South Korea.

Similarly, Dr. Netra Prasad Timsina has been recommended for Malaysia, Naresh Bikram Dhakal for Saudi Arabia, Dhan Prasad Pandit for Israel, Kapil Shrestha for South Africa, Dr. Shail Rupakheti for Germany, Sanil Nepal for Spain, Ram Krishna Bhattarai for Sri Lanka, Joint Foreign Secretary Prakash Mani Paudel for Portugal, Joint Secretary Rita Dhital for Pakistan, Sumnima Tuladhar for Denmark and Jangab Chauhan has been recommended as the ambassador for Russia.
