Ram Kumari Jhakri has lost the election to the post of vice chairperson under the women category of CPN (Unified Socialist).
Jayanti Rai defeated Jhakri by a margin of 87 votes.
Rai obtained 199 votes while her closest rival Jhakri received 112 votes in the election held on Tuesday, according to Arati Lama, the president of All Nepal National Free Students Union (close to Unified Socialist).
Seventeen leaders had filed their candidacies for the post of seven vice chairpersons of the CPN (Unified Socialist) in the election held to pick office-bearers yesterday.
According to the statute of the Unified Socialist, there are seven vice chairpersons including senior -1, female -1, Madheshi-1, open-4.
With the final results being unveiled, Dr. Ganga Lal Tuladhar, Jagannath Khatiwada, Bhanu Bhakta Joshi and Prakash Jwala have been elected as the vice chairpersons under the open category.
Similarly, Dharmanath Prasad Shah has been elected as the vice chairperson under the Madheshi category.
While Metmani Chaudhary, Ram Kumar Bhattarai, Garima Shah, and Rajendra Rai were elected as deputy general secretaries, Ganesh BK, Baldev Chaudhary, Shreenath Baral, Sabitra Bhushal, Sher Bahadur Kunwar, Som Prasad Pandey and Chandra Bahadur Shahi have been elected as secretaries.
Rajendra Pandey was elected as senior vice chairperson unopposed on Tuesday itself.
In the general convention held in Janakpur in the last week of June, Madhav Nepal, Jhala Nath Khanal and Ghanashyam Bhusal had been elected unopposed as chairman, respected leader and general secretary of the Unified Socialist, respectively.
