Morocco entered the semi-final of the FIFA World Cup 2022 by beating Portugal in the quarter-final match.
Held at the Al Thumama Stadium in Qatar on Saturday, African country Morocco made a historic win 1-0 against Portugal becoming the first African country to book berth in the semi-final.
Morocco's Youssef En Nesyri scored a goal against Portugal in the 42nd minute of the first half of the match. Despite some beautiful opportunities, Portugal could not make any goals.
Even though Morocco's Walid Cheddira was out in injury time after receiving a yellow card twice, Portugal could not take advantage of it.
Portugal reached the quarter-finals for the first time after reaching the semi-finals in 2006. Portugal, who finished third in 1966, were eliminated from the group stage in 1986.
In 2010 and 2018, Portugal were eliminated from the knockout stages.
This will probably be the last World Cup for Portuguese captain Cristiano Ronaldo, who is playing in the World Cup for the fifth time. Ronaldo is the only player to have played five World Cups in 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022.
