An earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale struck eastern hilly district Khotang on Monday night.
According to Seismological Center Lainchaur, the tremor was recorded with its epicenter at Kubinde in Khotang at 10:32 pm yesterday.
"This is a small-scale earthquake, it won't incur damages," Dr Lok Bijaya Adhikari, senior seismologist at the center, told Nepalkhabar.
The tremors were felt in Solukhumbu, Okhaldhunga, Udayapur, Bhojpur districts, locals have said.
Earlier, an earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale had struck with its epicenter at Majhigaun in Bajhang district on September 18.
Nepal lies in a fault zone as the Indian plate is constantly pushing against the Eurasian (Tibetan) plate, resulting in seismic activities in the Himalayan country, said Geographer Ganesh Kumar Jimee.
Jimee further said Nepal lies between the two tectonic plates -- Indian plate and the Eurasian Plate -- and their constant push against each other is creating energy. When the energy gets accumulated and strained, it releases in the form of seismic waves.
