The Nepal government has strongly condemned the recent attacks on the UNIFIL peacekeepers, urging the parties of the conflict to guarantee their safety and security.
Expressing solidarity with 34 UNIFIL contributing countries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal mentioned on X on Tuesday, "Such actions must stop immediately and should be adequately investigated."
The peace contributing countries including Nepal in a joint statement have expressed their full support to UNIFIL's mission and activities saying that their main objective is to bring stabilization and lasting peace in South Lebanon as well as in the Middle East, in line with relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council.
"We strongly condemn recent attacks on the UNIFIL's peacekeepers, urging the parties of the conflict to respect the UNIFIL's presence so that they can continue to implement its mandate and their work of mediation and support for peace and stability in Lebanon and the entire region," reads the joint statement issued by the UNIFIL contributing countries.
Reaffirming their commitment to multilateral cooperation with the UN at its core, the peace contributing countries have called for respect to the international law, the Charter of the United Nations as well as the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council, in particular.

As the war between Israel and Lebanon’s Hezbollah group escalates, a United Nations peacekeeping force in Lebanon is increasingly in the crosshairs, with Israeli troops firing at the peacekeepers’ headquarters and positions several times in the past week. Five peacekeepers have sustained injuries in attacks that struck their positions in recent days, most of them blamed on Israeli forces.
Relations have soured between Israel and the United Nations over the way Israel has conducted its war in Gaza. In an unprecedented move, Israel earlier this month said the U.N. secretary-general was persona non grata in Israel.
In the absence of an agreed-upon border, the U.N. drew up a boundary between Lebanon and Israel known as the Blue Line, which UNIFIL monitors and patrols. The peacekeepers belong to the 10,000-strong United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, known as UNIFIL, who have been patrolling the border area between Lebanon and Israel for nearly 50 years.
