All the five bodies of Russian climbers who lost their lives in the course of climbing Mt Dhaulagiri have been brought to Kathmandu.
"All the five bodies of Russian climbers who died in the course of climbing Mt Dhaulagiri have been brought to Kathmandu on Wednesday," Director General of the Department of Tourism, Narayan Prasad Regmi told Nepalkhabar.
Regmi had urged the representatives of IAM Trekking and Expedition to promptly collect the bodies on Tuesday.
Despite the helicopter's efforts to rescue the bodies on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, it returned without bodies.
While Saturday was Vijaya Dashami, the weather was adverse on Sunday, leading to the suspension of the flight services.
Five Russian climbers had gone out of contact on Sunday night (October 6) while ascending Dhaulagiri Mountain (8,167m).
The bodies of Alexender Dusheyko, Oleg Kruglov, Vladimir Chistikov, Mikhail Nosenko and Dmitry Shpilevoi were spotted in a gorge at an altitude of 6,800 meters following an aerial search. The rescue team had reported the DoT that they had fallen from above 7,000 meters.

Of the 14 climbers, who went on their mission to ascend Mt Dhaulagiri, six mountaineers --Maksim Makarov, Dmitri Timkin, Oleg Timkin, Sergei Votrotyntse, Dmitri Kliukin, Vladimir Peresedov -- had abandoned their summit owing to their health issues. Two climbers -- Denis Aleksenko and Artsiom Tsentsevitski -- successfully ascended the mountain while Valerii Shpilevoi, a climber attempting to summit Mt Dhaulagiri, was forced to turn back due to his health issues. He was airlifted to Kathmandu.
A total of 14 climbers led by Alexender Dusheyko on September 12 had left for Myagdi to scale Mt. Dhaulagiri and reached the district on September 15.
