Sri Lanka has beaten Maldives 1-0 in their first group stage match of the SAFF Women's Championship held at Dasharath Stadium on Friday.
Imesha Anuradhinee's goal in the 18th minute became decisive for Sri Lanka's win over Maldives.
Sri Lnaka took an early lead with the goal Anuradhinee scored capitalizing on a cross from Perera. Sri Lanka emerged winner after no further goals were scored by either side of the team.
Anuradhinee struck the ball into the goalpost in the 36th minute but Maldives' goalkeeper Aminath Lija saved it.
In the 15th minute of the first half, Sri Lanka's Koswattage Perera cleared the corner from Maldives' defender.
With the win, Sri Lanka has climbed atop the points tally of Group 'B' with three points.
Home team Nepal is taking on Bhutan in the next match today from Group 'B'. The match is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
