Security personnel fired teargas shells and water cannons on the cadres of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) after they tried to breach the prohibited zone in Pokhara, Kaski.

Former Deputy Prime Minister Rabi Lamichhane, who was arrested on the charge of cooperative fraud scam, has been presented before the Kaski District Court.

Lamichhane, who was arrested from Kathmandu on Friday, was taken to the district court on Sunday for the extension of his remand.

The supporters of Lamichhane have hit the streets shouting slogans against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and demanding an early release of their leader.

Meanwhile, a large number of security personnel have been deployed on the streets to preempt any onward incidents.

The victims of Suryadarshan Cooperative have also been demonstrating. The gap between the two groups of demonstrators is only 50 meters. Security personnel are preventing a clash between the two agitating groups.

The cadres of the RSP had also staged a demonstration against the arrest of Rabi on Saturday.

A team of Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police on Friday arrested former Home Minister Lamichhane from the central party office of RSP, Banasthali for his alleged involvement in the misuse of the funds from Suryadarshan Cooperative.
