Kukur (Dog) Tihar today. On this occasion, the Central Police Dogs Training School in Marajgunj has performed Kukur Puja amidst rituals.
The trained dogs were worshipped by offering them with delicious foods and presenting them with floral tributes in recognition of their contribution to security, faithfulness and loyalty.
Meanwhile, dogs showcased their skills with a variety of tricks.
Similarly, excellent dogs based on their performance in the past one year were awarded with prizes.

German shepherd sinner dog named 'Tiger' was declared 'Best Dog of the Year'. Tiger has been awarded with a medal on the occasion of Kukur Tihar.
According to SP Ramchandra Satyal, in-charge at the Central Police Dogs Training Center, Tiger tracked down two culprits who were on the run after murdering two septuagenarian women.

On August 2, 2024, 72-year-old Ratna Kumari Thapa of Bahrabise Municipality-7, was found dead in her own house in Sindhupalchowk. After being tipped off about the death, the police went to the Ranta's house with sinner dog Tiger. The foot-prints of a person involved in the murder was found in the nearby millet field. With the help of the foot-prints, Tiger helped the police track down the culprit.

On January 2, 2024, 75-year-old Netra Kumari Chhetri was found dead in Shivapuri Rural Municipality-9, Nuwakot. Her body was found dumped in a goats' pen. The box kept in her bedroom was broken down. Tiger was released after sniffing the tool used to dismantle the box. The Tiger then went to the dead body of the Netra Kumari in the goats' pen and then helped track down the house of the murderer.
