Former Minister Adhikari arrested on charges of human trafficking

Former Minister for Home Affairs and Law of Koshi Province, Lila Ballav Adhikari. has been arrested on charges of human trafficking.

According to the police, he was apprehended by the police from Biratnagar on Sunday morning and will be brought to Kathmandu today.

An official of the District Police Office, Morang said the arrested Adhikari is being taken to Kathmandu at the direction of the District Police Range, Kathmandu.

Adhikari is a lawmaker elected from the Province Assembly-2 of Morang District Constituency-2 under the House of Representatives representing UML.

Adhikari was accused of trafficking in people during his visit to Japan. Following the allegation, Adhikari resigned as a minister and the parliamentary party leader.

Meanwhile, UML has suspended him from all the party responsibilities.

Sources have said that the Home Ministry has instructed to take necessary legal actions against Adhikari.
