Former Minister Lila Ballav Adhikari, who was arrested on the alleged charge of trafficking in people, have been remanded to two days in police custody for investigation.
A bench of Judge Khimananda Bhusal of the District Court Kathmandu permitted the District Police Range, Kathmandu to investigate Adhikari by keeping him in custody for two days, said Ram Sharma, the record keeper at the court.
Former Minister for Home Affairs and Law of Koshi Province, Lila Ballav Adhikari was apprehended by the police in Biratnagar on Sunday morning and brought to Kathmandu today itself.
Provincial lawmaker representing the Province Assembly-2 of Morang District Constituency-2 under the House of Representatives representing UML, Adhikari was accused of trafficking in people during his visit to Japan.
Following the allegation, Adhikari resigned as a minister and the parliamentary party leader. Meanwhile, UML has suspended him from all the responsibilities of the party.
