The Federation of International Nepali Youth Entrepreneurs (FINYE) is organizing the International Youth Entrepreneurs Summit in Hong Kong on November 29-30, targeting Nepali youth entrepreneurs around the world.

The FIENE has its chapters across the world. The Hong Kong chapter is going to hold this summit as its first world summit. Around 150 to 170 youths are expected to partake in the summit to be held at Marco Polo Hong Kong Hotel.

Against this backdrop, Nepalkhabar talked to chairman of the FINYE Hong Kong chapter Inder Pun, who is also the coordinator of the world summit, about the event. Excerpts:

What kinds of people will participate in International Youth Entrepreneurs Summit to be held in Hong Kong?
Youth entrepreneurs from various countries will participate in the summit. Those who are doing businesses in America, Japan, UK, Australia, Korea, China, Macao, the Middle East and Hong Kong will participate in the summit.

Similarly, representatives from the Nepal government, general consuls, and representatives from the Hong Kong government will participate in an interaction program. The summit will bring together venture capitalists, business professionals from various sectors, and IT experts.

What issues will be discussed in the two-day summit?
We will discuss the current status of Nepali youth entrepreneurship worldwide. We will focus on both aspiring and established Nepali entrepreneurs.

The discussion will explore global investment opportunities. We will discuss how Nepali youth in Hong Kong are leveraging partnerships and bank loans to invest in various ventures. Businessmen will delve into strategies for investment growth, collaborating with venture capital, and harnessing the power of AI to excel in business.

Additionally, a government representative will discuss potential foreign investment areas in Nepal, promising projects, and incentive-based regions.

What kinds of support will youth entrepreneurs get from the summit?
Youth entrepreneurs will get two benefits from the summit. One of the benefits is to motivate young individuals to embark on entrepreneurial journeys, while another is to inspire aspiring entrepreneurs through the success stories shared by seasoned business leaders.

The conference will feature presentations on emerging investment trends, providing valuable insights for young entrepreneurs. Similarly, the conference will serve as a valuable platform for networking, fostering connections among participants. This will be particularly beneficial for those with promising business plans but facing challenges in securing investment.

The event will offer insights into sourcing funds and provide an opportunity to interact directly with government officials to address any concerns or seek guidance. Moreover, the conference aims to address the numerous queries of young entrepreneurs, making it a comprehensive resource for those looking to start or grow their businesses.

What are the potential benefits of a global conference of young Nepali entrepreneurs held in Hong Kong?
Today's youths have a question as to why they should return to Nepal. Many young people think that why should they not succeed by investing abroad, why they should not invest in the same country where they live. There is a discussion among the government officials that we should make the country prosperous by increasing investment in Nepal together with businessmen who are interested in the program.

The government official will convince what reforms have been made in the law for investment in Nepal, and how registration can be done online. This initiative will highlight the potential benefits of overseas investments for Nepal. The youths abroad will know about the potential of Nepal's tourism and information technology sector.

Foreign companies are looking for young people to work in Nepali IT sector. There is a situation where foreign companies are buying software developed by Nepali youths. This topic should be known to all young people. Software can be exported by increasing investment in Nepal's information technology.

You are organizing the summit by bringing youths from around the globe. How do you manage it?
The summit is being held in collaboration with friends from the FINYE Hong Kong chapter, and those from the center under my coordination. Eighty percent of expenses will be borne by the Hong Kong chapter while the center will contribute 20 percent. The estimated cost to run the program is 400,000 HK dollars. The fund will be generated through participation fees and sponsorships.

Does FINYE do this kind of event every year or only this time?
While the program is currently being held in Hong Kong, the goal is to explore different topics annually. The next event of a similar kind, or perhaps even larger, may be organized in either Australia or America. In the future, we plan to organize a conference specifically targeting the tourism and information technology sectors.
