General Dwivedi arrived in Kathmandu on Wednesday to receive an honorary rank of the General of the Nepali Army.

According to a press note issued by the Directorate of Public Relations and Information of the Nepali Army, President Ramchandra Paudel will confer an honorary rank of the General of the Nepali Army on Dwivedi on Thursday.

During the five-day long visit, Dwivedi will also pay courtesy calls on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Defense Minister Manbir Rai, pay homage to the martyrs' memorial in the Army Pavilion, receive a ceremonial Guard of Honor at the Army Headquarters and remain engaged in an official meeting with General Sigdel, according to the press note.

Likewise, he will also interact with the student officers at the Army Command and Staff College, Shivapuri and visit the Western Divisional Headquarters of the Nepali Army in Pokhara.

Nepal and India have a long-standing tradition of conferring the honorary rank of General upon each other's army chiefs.

Dwivedi had taken charge the 30th Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army on June 30.
