Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has reached Janakpur, skipping the consultation meeting called by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called a consultation meeting with former prime ministers, foreign ministers to seek suggestions for his upcoming China visit.
NC an UML leaders are sharply divided over the signing of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) Framework Agreement of China.
To form an opinion on the BRI, Prime Minister Oli has called a meeting with the former prime ministers and former foreign ministers today. The meeting is underway at the Office of the Prime Minister in Singha Durbar.
However, the president of ruling alliance Nepali Congress, Deuba has flown to Janakpur abstaining from the meeting called by Prime Minister Oli.
This is a customary of the Prime Minister to call such a meeting prior to embarking on a foreign visit.
In the meeting underway in Singha Durbar, former prime ministers Pushpa Kama Dahal 'Prachanda', Madhav Kumar Nepal, Jhala Nath Khanal, former chairman of the Council of Ministers, Khil Raj Regmi, Foreign Minister Dr Arzu Rana Deuba are participating.
Similarly, former Foreign Ministers Narayan Kaji Shrestha, NP Saud, Mahendra Bahadur Pandey, and former Defense Minister Ishwar Pokharel are also participating in the meeting.
Prime Minister Oli is visiting China on December 2.
