A Nepali man was beaten to death in his room in Chandigarh, India, on Tuesday night, Indian media reported, citing police.

The deceased has been identified as Ambar Bahadur, 40, residing in Kishangarh village, near IT Park, Chandigarh.

Indian police said Bahadur was killed following a drunken brawl with another Nepali Chait Narayan, 52, who was the deceased's roommate.

Following the incident, suspect Narayan has been at large since Wednesday.

Police inspection suggested that Bahadur was hit repeatedly with a pressure cooker on his head, resulting in deep injuries on skull and later death.

The two Nepali nationals worked for a catering contractor Baniram Sharma, who had visited Bahadur and Narayan's room on Tuesday night to find them totally drunk and quarreling.

The following day on Wednesday, as Sharma went to take stock of the two Nepalis, he found Bahadur dead and Narayan missing. There was a pressure cooker stained with blood in their room.

When the vicitm was rushed to the hospital, doctors pronounced him dead.

Indian police have begun an investigation by registered a case under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code at IT Park police station.

One of Bahadur's sisters living in Delhi was informed about her brother’s death, police said.

The deceased's families lives in Nepal.
