Cabinet approves RMB 300 mln grant for Nepal during PM's China visit

A cabinet meeting has taken various decisions related to the Prime Minister's visit to China.

According to Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung, who is also the government spokesperson, the cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister's residence in Baluwatar today decided to accept the proposed financial and technical grant assistance worth 300 million RMB. The Finance Secretary has been given the authority to sign the proposal.

The Cabinet meeting has also approved the memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the development plan from 2025 to 2029. The Finance Secretary has been given the responsibility to sign it.

Similarly, the Cabinet meeting has also approved the MoU between the public service broadcasting organizations (Radio Nepal and Nepal Television) and China Media Group (CMG), Minister Gurung said. The MoU in this regard will be signed during Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's visit to China starting Monday.

The Cabinet meeting has also approved the MoU between the Government of Nepal and the Government of China to mobilize a volunteer Chinese language teacher training program in Nepal. The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has been given the responsibility to sign and implement the MoU.

Likewise, projects scheduled to be signed during Prime Minister Oli's visit include the Kathmandu Ring Road upgradation, the fourth phase of the Araniko Highway upgradation, the Hilsa-Simikot Road Project, a Korola border management project, and the Tokha-Chhahare tunnel. Similarly, projects such as initiating a bone marrow transplant treatment system at BP Koirala Cancer Hospital, Chitwan, are also in the pipeline. Minister Gurung informed that discussions have progressed to reach an agreement for 100 electric vehicles, 100 police vans, 50 school vans, and 50 ambulances during Prime Minister Oli's visit.

Prime Minister Oli is leaving for Beijing on Monday on a four-day to China at the cordial invitation of his Chinese counterpart Li Qiang.
