Maoist Center's Majhi elected Gramthan Rural Municipality chair

CPN (Maoist Center) has won the post of chairman of Gramthan Rural Municipality in Morang district.

According to the latest information provided by the Election Commission (EC), the Maoist Center candidate of Gramthan, Namo Narayan Majhi, won the elections with 6,969 votes.

His nearest rival, Balaram Sardar Tharu of Nepali Congress, got 5,333 votes, while Tulsiram Biswas of CPN UML secured 4,159 votes.

Similarly, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP)'s Dinesh Kumar Thandar obtained 555 votes.

Previously, Nepali Congress had won the post of chairman, vice-chairman and five ward chairmen in this rural municipality, which was won by the Nepali Congress.

The Maoist Center had won only one ward chairman.

In the 2079 local level elections, Jaya Prakash Gachchhadar Tharu of Nepali Congress had won the post of chairman of Gramthan Rural Municipality, securing 7,605 votes.

UML's Shiva Narayan Majhi Tharu got 6,093 votes and Bijaya Kumar Sardar of Maoist Center got 2,727 votes in the previous election.
