The government of Japan is set to confer decoration on senior Nepali Congress leader Ram Chandra Poudel.
The Japanese Embassy is conferring 'Grand Cordon of Order of the Rising Sun' on Poudel by organizing a special program at Poudel's residence at 3:00 pm today.
The decoration was announced on April 29, 2020.
Leader Poudel will be honored for his contribution of having activated the contacts between parliamentarians of Nepal and Japan as well as strengthening the relations between both countries, it has been said.
The Nepal-Japan Friendly Parliamentary League was established in 1999 at Poudel's initiative. He also served as the first chair of the League until 2017. He actively involved in the promotion of the bilateral relations between the two countries.
The honor is conferred on personalities for their contribution in promotion of political, diplomatic, research, education, medical and social welfare, economic, industry, culture and sports between the two countries.
