A cabinet meeting convened prior to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's China visit had endorsed Sigdel's India visit.

According to a press note issued by the Nepali Army, CoAS Sigdel will embark on a four-day official visit to India starting December 11 to 14 at the invitation of Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army General Upendra Dwivedi.

During the period, General Sigdel will receive the insignia of the honorary CoAS rank of the Indian Army from Droupadi Murmu, the President of India.

Nepal and India confer honorary CoAS ranks on each other's army chiefs, according to the tradition.

President of Nepal, Ramchandra Paudel, had conferred the insignia of honorary CoAS rank on General Dwivedi during his recent Nepal visit. Dwivedi had arrived in Nepal on November 20 and returned home on November 24.

Sigdel will hold a meeting with his Indian counterpart Dwivedi, pay courtesy calls on Indian President Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh among others.

Similarly, General Sigdel will also attend a program to be organized by the Indian Military Academy and meet with high-ranking officials of India, according to the Nepali Army headquarters.
