Light to moderate snowfall forecast in highlands

The weather today will remain partly cloudy in Koshi Province along with the hilly regions of Bagmati and Gandaki Province. It will remain mainly fair in the rest of the country.

Furthermore, light rain is likely to occur at one or two places of hilly region of Koshi Province, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division. There is currently partial effect of the westerly winds in the country.

Meanwhile, the westerly low pressure system (Western Disturbance) coming with westerly winds is likely to bring partial to generally cloudy weather in many places in Nepal from Sunday evening.

Due to the influence of this system, light to moderate snowfall is likely in many places in the high hilly and mountainous areas of Sudurpaschim and Karnali Provinces and in a few places in the high hilly and mountainous areas of Gandaki, Bagmati and Koshi Provinces from Sunday evening to Monday, says a special winter weather bulletin released by the Division.

In addition, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain in some places in Sudurpaschim, Karnali and Lumbini Provinces, light rain in a few places in Gandaki and in one or two places in the hilly areas of Bagmati and Koshi Province.

As a result, the temperature is likely to experience a drop leading to increase in cold across the country, adds the Division.
