Jhankri Prakash Bhujel has been sent to prison for trial in vehicle homicide case.
A bench of Kathmandu District Judge Khem Raj Bhatta on Sunday ordered the incarceration of Jhankri Bhujel (self-proclaimed shaman) for further investigation into the case.
The car, Ba 19 Cha 2695, driven by Bhujel, which was heading to Sankhu from Thali, struck the motorcycle, Ba. Pra. 02-018 Pa 6875, heading toward the same direction.
Two motorcycle-borne couple sustained critical injuries after being struck by the car driven by Bhujel on the Sankh-Thali road section Shankharapur Municipality-9 at around 1:15 pm on November 13.
Narayan Nagarkot, 38, and his wife Sanumaya Nagarkoti, 32, of Kageshwari Manohara Municipality-2, Kathmandu, who were critically injured in the road accident, had been taken to Grande International Hospital, Tokha after a preliminary treatment at Shankharapur Hospital, Narayantar. The couple passed away in the course of treatment.
Jhankri, who fled the scene leaving his car behind, surrendered himself to the Police Circle, Boudha. Police had been investigating the case by keeping Bhujel in police custody.
