The Nepali Army has informed that the Nepali peacekeepers deployed in Syria are safe.
An armed militant group on December 7, barged into the 10-A security post in Hadar, where Nepali peacekeepers deployed in the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) mission were located.
Despite their entry, all the Nepali peacekeepers were safe, the Nepali Army said in a statement on Monday. Despite the peacekeepers' warnings, the armed group forcibly barged into the security post.
Along with the post, the Nepali peacekeepers deployed in various locations across Syria under the UN mission are also safe, the NA has said.
Abu Mohammed al-Golani-led insurgency took over Damascus on Saturday, toppling the 50-year-long Assad-controlled despotic regime. Meanwhile, Bashar Assad, the President of Syria, has fled into hiding, reportedly to Russia.
Syria is home to multiple ethnic and religious communities, often pitted against each other by Assad’s state and years of war.
